Our mission
Making forgotten narratives accessible
Thousands of extraordinary travel narratives lie dormant in the public domain, trapped in prose that has become unreadable. Archaic languages, obsolete turns of phrase, lost references: these texts no longer find their readers.
Itinérarium Editions identifies the most remarkable of these narratives and rewrites them entirely in contemporary language, while respecting the original author's voice. The result: faithful, fluid texts, ready for ebook, paperback and audiobook.
Faithful to the original text
Each modernized edition is built on a careful reading of the source text. We do not summarize, we do not fictionalize: we translate from one era to another, preserving the narrative structure and the explorer's perspective.
Voices from around the world
Our catalogue draws from European, Persian, Arabic and Asian traditions. Great travelers were not all Western, and French, English and Spanish-speaking readers deserve access to these texts.
Multi-format, multi-platform
Every title is published as an ebook, paperback and audiobook, available on all major platforms: Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, Audible, and in bookstores via IngramSpark.
Illustrated editions
When the narrative calls for it, our editions include itinerary maps, period illustrations and discreet contextual notes that illuminate the text without weighing it down.

Editorial team
Our authors
Three authors, three sensibilities, one shared project: restoring forgotten travel narratives to their rightful place in contemporary literature.
E
Erik de Boisgrollier
Editorial Director
Passionate about history and geography for as long as he can remember, Erik de Boisgrollier grew up and lived in France, Spain and Canada. An avid traveler, he has explored Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and South America. It was while discovering the narratives of Jacques Cartier and Nasir Khusraw that he had the idea of giving these forgotten texts a second life. He leads the editorial direction of Itinérarium and works primarily on the Wild Americas and Orient & Levant collections.
T
Thierry de Ruolz
Author
An insatiable reader and polyglot by curiosity, Thierry de Ruolz developed a passion for Eastern literatures after an extended stay in Turkey and Iran in his twenties. A self-taught Arabist, he learned Persian on the ground, through travels that took him from Damascus to Samarkand. He brings to the project an intimate knowledge of Levantine and Asian cultures. He works on the Deep Asia and Orient & Levant collections.
Y
Yves Garnier
Author
Fascinated by maps since childhood, Yves Garnier spent much of his life traveling through sub-Saharan Africa and the polar regions. A long-distance hiker and amateur sailor, he approaches travel narratives through geography: the terrain, the climate, the landscapes. For him, rewriting an explorer's text means first understanding the physical world they crossed. He is responsible for the Unexplored Africa and South Pole collections.
